Brow lamination by Caitlyn Stewart: Get ready for flawless, runway-ready brows that turn heads.
What is Brow Lamination?
Brow Lamination is essentially the “perming” of the brow hairs. A chemical is applied to soften the follicle allowing it to be better manipulated to provide a fuller and more refined brow line.
What to Expect During A Lamination Procedure
-
A lifting cream will be applied to your brows
-
The hairs will be brushed upward into a vertical position
-
A neutralizer will be applied to your brows to help repair the keratin chain of the brow hairs which allow for a longer lasting hold to the refined brow shape
-
A nourishing oil will be applied to your brows to help prevent irritation that may follow after the chemical treatment
During your appointment you may also have your brows tweezed, waxed for a more refined arch, or tinted for desired shade prior to lamination procedure
The amount of time it takes to complete the lamination service will not exceed 1 hour
After Care
Your brow lamination will last 4 to 6 weeks with basic at-home care, but can last up to 8 weeks with attentive at-home care and more dry skin types. Skin that tends to produce more oil will break down the lamination slightly faster than the more dry skin types, but will still last the average 4 to 6 weeks regardless of skin type.
Listed below are recommended at-home care tips to make sure you get the most out of your newly refined brows:
-
Avoid getting brows wet for 24 hours
-
Avoid direct sunlight, tanning beds, saunas, and swimming for 48 hours
-
Avoid touching or rubbing brows for 24 hours
-
Avoid sleeping in a position where your face touches pillows, blankets, etc. for 24 hours
-
No makeup or self-tanners around brow area for 24 to 48 hours
-
(Optional) 48 hours post-procedure, you may gently apply oils or serums to brows for hydration and to help prevent breakage
How a Brow Lamination Might Benefit You
If you’re having trouble with any of the following common brow troubles, a brow lamination procedure is the best way to directly address them:
-
Thinning of the brows
-
Gaps from past damage by excessively plucking or waxing
-
Multi-directional hairs that don’t lay straight despite brushing or shaping
-
Brows that don’t have a refined shape or are uneven
Common Side Effects
Post-procedure side effects are very common. Some of which include:
-
Swelling
-
Redness
-
Peeling
-
Itching
-
Bumps
While these side effects are common and should not cause concern, we still urge you to NOT touch, scratch, or rub the brow area for at least 24 to 48 hours post-procedure.
Daily, gentle application of an oil or a conditioning brow serum can help ease any discomfort that you may experience. A few oil options that will benefit you the most are argan oil, castor oil, and coconut oil. Again, we urge that you DO NOT apply any oils or serums for at least 48 hours post-procedure.
To Those We Would Not Recommend The Procedure
If you have any of the following skin conditions, we would not recommend having this procedure done:
-
Highly sensitive skin
-
Rosacea
-
Eczema
-
If you have experienced a history of contact dermatitis
If you so choose to go through with the procedure despite having any of the the listed conditions, it will be at your own risk.
How Much Does Brow Lamination Typically Cost?
You can expect a brow lamination procedure, on average, to range between $50 to $100 per session based on brow hair type and services applied such as waxing, tinting, and tweezing during your session.
